Last year, Lars Construction had the honor of working with Captain Joshua S. Meadows and his wife, Angela. They came to us with a need to remodel their kitchen, not knowing that Capt. Meadows would not be able to see the finished product beyond what we showed him in the project renderings.
Based at Camp Pendleton, Capt. Meadows was sent to Afghanistan to conduct combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. It was in Afghanistan that he lost his life in a combat mission leaving behind his wife and their first child ā who was not yet born at the time of his death.
After more than 13 years in the Marine Corp, Capt. Meadows was a decorated Purple Heart, Bronze Star with a combat āVā, received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unity Commendation, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with bronze campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with two bronze stars, Rifle Expert Badge (4), and a Pistol Expert Badge (4).
Lars Construction is proud to have had the opportunity to work with Capt. Meadows and his family, and this year our sponsorship of a military family through Operation Homefront is being done in honor and remembrance of him and his family.
We have continually fostered a sense of philanthropy at Lars Construction, something that we encourage among our employees even outside of the holiday season. Our sponsored Adopt a Family Programs are a great way for employees and partners to get involved, and give back, to a community who so generously supports and provides for us throughout the year.
If you are interested in giving to or have questions about our Adopt a Family Program, please contact Wendy Williams of Lars Construction at 619-463-6300.
